Land Use

When I think of a Comprehensive Plan, I think of Land Use. Why are you saving this topic for last?

It's true. Land use is usually the topic most associated with a Comprehensive Plan update. The way we plan our uses have long-lasting impacts on the environment, our financial and social well-being, and the quality of life in our community. It is for all these reasons that we wanted to address land use at the end of our outreach. The seven previous outreach topics are directly impacted by the way we use the land, how we plan for growth and development, how we site infrastructure and service delivery.

The Comprehensive Land Use map is a guiding document for the City's growth and development. The draft map will address environmental sensitivity, topography, best uses for financial balance and return, and a plethora of other factors in its evolution. The City's current Comprehensive Land Use map can be found here.

Flexible Uses - SMART Growth - Adaptive Re-Use - LEED For Cities - Protective Forecasting

We encourage you to stay engaged throughout the Land Use topical outreach and provide your input in various ways, starting with the visual preference surveys located on this page and on Nextdoor, by sharing examples of land use changes that have impacted you, or by completing the Land Use survey.
